Mix and Match+ Repeating Outfits

Hi babes, now more than ever I have become the queen of outfit repeating and I love to mix and match as well. Continue reading down below on how to get started…

I definitely like to ball on a budget and be smart with things I purchase. Versatile pieces are a must because they can transform any look which is exactly what you need to mix and match. As much as I love fun prints, I try to stay away from them because it limits how many times I can actually change up the look so basic pieces are your best friend. Being that it’s summer time, I LOVE buying basic crop tops, cami’s along with basic t-shirts because they go with denim shorts, skirts, EVERYTHING!

In today’s #ootd I am wearing this casual monochromatic look, I bought these denim shorts that I’ve worn sooooo many times whether it’s with sneakers, sandals and here I decided to pair it with my new pearl crop top and small heeled block sandals to make it chic and casual. I love this top from SHEIN because the color stands out, it comes with a cute tie in the back detail and how cute are the pearls?! This is the perfect example of a versatile piece because you can dress it up or down. Envision the endless possibilities when you are able to mix and match an item. I can wear this top with denim jeans the next time around, with trousers for a dressy look or even a skirt and I can also transition this top into the fall season. Be smart with the way you spend your money, I am linking this top down below because it’s on sale for only $7!!!!

How to Start Blogging

Hi babes! I hope everyone is out and enjoying their summer ’18!!

I get so many questions from friends or people I meet along the way of how I started blogging or what made me want to start…

My biggest advice for anyone who wants to do the same thing is to just do it!!! Let’s start off with what made me want to start 4+ years ago and the answer to that is that I’ve always loved fashion ever since I could remember at the age of 4 and being in pre-school! LOL

I would always take tons of clothes out and put outfits together of what I wanted to wear to school the next day and model it for my mom. (I still do that to this day, lol) But I’ve always had an eye for styling looks and loving everything I wear.    So one day as I was scrolling through Instagram (way back in the day lol) I saw other bloggers sharing their outfits and I told myself I can see myself doing that too! I began taking photos of my outfits and posting them on Instagram, don’t get me wrong I was nervous about what others would think or say because I had never done anything like that on social media. I told myself to stay consistent with sharing my looks, I began tagging the brands I was wearing and using hashtags like crazy but it worked for me. I was engaging with others who shared similar posts and I noticed my followers were growing slowly but surely. The algorithm changes ALL the time but back then I felt like it was easier to gain followers based on engagement and reposts from brands.

Consistency truly is key if you want blogging to become something. So back to blogging and what it takes to get started and working your way up. I am no where near where I want to be but I definitely see myself evolving and taking those baby steps of where I’m meant to be and it’s such a good feeling. I blog because I love it, I enjoy it and because it makes me happy.

I believe it’s so important to be yourself and authentic to what your style is when you are a blogger/ influencer or even in general as a person. Instagram has become full of aesthetics that are all starting to look very similar and as for myself I know that I want to stand apart from that because I am here to share my  OWN style, to connect with people and most of all I am here to be relatable.

If you have thought about blogging/ being a influencer just go for it because as soon as you start, you begin to know yourself! Brands definitely notice your style, so don’t focus on the numbers because that’s something that will eventually grow especially when you’re authentic and relatable. As you start building your brand and style that represents you, definitely reach out to brands because it never hurts to try!

Look Good On A Budget

Happy Wednesday babes, who loves a bright color that makes a statement?! This girl right here!! I have been obsessed with bold and bright colors for summer to go along with my tan, it’s the perfect combo.

SHEIN has the perfect items to upgrade your wardrobe for summer and I want to the share this super cute top I recently got, crop tops are my favorite all year long but for summer they are a must.

Link top shop item for $5 :

http://bit.ly/2Jq7maT

I am the queen of the sales and have no shame in my game babes and you shouldn’t either. For example the top I’m sharing is only $5!!!! Not only is it cheap in price but I love that it looks very chic and something you can dress up or down. Over the years I have learned to shop smart and get items that always stand out but most of all a steal for my pocket if you know what I mean.

For those who know me, whenever I get compliments about my clothes or shoes you will always hear me say, “OMG, it was so cheap I got it on sale!” I stay true to that when buying items that are normally under $25 and anything I have purchased that goes over $25 I can count on one hand.

You can look cute on a budget while making sure you choose versatile pieces to recreate outfits which has been my favorite thing to do lately! Crop tops are my favorite because they accentuate the waist and this one definitely stands out because it’s a one shoulder top with scallop details that make it unique.  The material is thin and stretchy so it’s perfect for summer. I am a firm believer in wearing whatever you want and it’s all about being confident to make anything work!

Enjoy the look and shop this top 🙂

Fitness Q&A+ Favorites

Happy Monday babes, OMG the heat was real this past weekend!

I want to answer a couple questions based on my fitness routine because I have gotten a couple of DM’s through Instagram so I will share as much as I can plus share some of my current favorite athletic wear. Continue reading down below for more.

Top via @runitwear

So let’s start off with my fitness routine, I like to workout 4-5 times a week. I do cardio 20-30 mins before I start lifting and usually consists of the stair master, elliptical and bike whenever I like to change it up.

As for lifting, I like to spread out my workouts. I do lower body twice a week so it’s extremely important to switch it up if you want gain muscle you MUST lift heavy. It’s all a process so keep in mind that everyone starts off somewhere but being consistent will really pay off and show you the results you want as long as you put in the effort all around.

I workout biceps and triceps one day, shoulders another day and back and chest together. YouTube is a great way to learn and follow exercises if you are beginning your fitness journey. I still follow videos when I want to learn new techniques and there’s so many ideas to follow that are super easy as well.

Top via @runitwear

I like to incorporate abs at least 3 times a week which usually fall on the days I workout upper body so I spend about an hour and a half at the gym. Stretching is also a MUST to get your body ready before you workout. I like to use the foam roller for my leg days before and after my workout.

Food:

I LOVE FOOD!!! So I am constantly eating and snacking every 2-3 hours. I usually start my morning with coffee, spinach omelette, bacon and a hash brown with a side of avocado toast. I have chicken/meat with rice for lunch around 11-12 and have another meal around 2-3 but try to substitute the rice for veggies and then have dinner around 7-8. As for my snacks in between, I like to eat fruit or do a protein shake. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely eat what I want but all in moderation. I have my moments of weakness which are pizza and donuts because carbs are life lol BUT I can definitely say I cut out fast food such as Mc Donald’s, Burger King, Jack in the Box, etc. My top 3 places to eat out for my cheat meals are in n out, panda express and chipotle. LOL

I would say for the most part I do a good job, I don’t count calories, I’ve just learned what I have to cut back on and of course to drink plenty of water. I drink water with all of my meals.

As for the protein I take, I normally take whey protein but don’t have a specific brand. I am currently experimenting to see what goes well with my body. I love mixing my protein powder with banana, peanut butter and almond milk. I take c4 for my pre workout which I buy at Target for $20 but I only take it twice a week when I workout lower body.

I want to keep this information simple and straight to the point for what I do but if you have any questions or other tips you are looking for I am more than happy to answer. You can email me or send me a DM on Instagram.

Remember that everyone’s body is different, what works for me might not work for someone else but all I can say is to be consistent and positive in the changes you want to achieve.

Favorite places to shop for athletic wear:

  • Forever 21
  • Old Navy
  • TJ Maxx/ Marshall’s

I am all about shopping smart and I go crazy with sales so these are my top places to shop and they have so many cute items that are in style so definitely check it out.

Be A Boss Babe

Happy Thursday babes, today feels like a Monday due to fourth of July and OMG I feel completely lost! LOL

I’m so happy it’s summer and I’m all about the good vibes so let’s have a little inspirational talk…

It is so important to build a network of friends and things that inspire you to do better and be the best version of yourself. It’s so easy to get caught up with daily life and all of its nonsense but it’s crucial that we stay focused and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

5 tips to follow:

  • Let go of anything that no longer serves you whether it’s a friend, a job, a relationship etc.
  • You come first!!!
  • Always choose to be positive.
  • Fall in love with your hobbies, for me it’s the gym so I make it a priority to go. It’s the time where I get to reflect and be a bad ass while lifting.
  • Whatever you do in life, give it your all or don’t bother wasting your time!

Everything in life is a learning experience, we should all be growing and striving for more. Be passionate about what you want in life and just go for it! So on that note, cheers to summer and to becoming a better person each day!

Palm Springs Recap

GOOD morning babes, happy Monday!!

I have been a little MIA because my birthday was earlier this month and if you’re extra AF like me then you celebrate all month long! LOL

I went on a girls trip a couple of weeks ago to Palm Springs and we got the cutest airbnb, had lots of fun under the sun so if you want to know more about where my friends and I went to eat, nightlife etc. continue reading down below…

So I am now 28 and embracing another year of life!

#teamgemini

OMG babes, I fell in love with this spa because it was so cute and relaxing! It was actually my first massage EVER so i was definitely missing out but this place was perfect for my first experience. If you’re ever in the Palm Springs area, stop by www.groundedbodyworks.com

My friends and I paid $50 for 30 mins and we got “The Coachella” massage which is great for pain relief, it’s a deep tissue massage and they use trigger point therapy techniques to relieve muscle and connective tissue below the surface which was perfect for me because I live at the gym!

P.s. I was a tad bit hungover so I was very much in need of this massage! LOL

#girlgang

My friends were so awesome on this trip, fun and careless vibes all around!

*All of my swimsuits are from www.zaful.com

Dinner was a little tricky because my friends and I went the weekend they were hosting Splash House so most bars/restaurants were at capacity.

We had dinner at Birba  which had the cutest outdoor seating and bar for pictures HOWEVER the service could have been way better from the hostess as they were only taking reservations but we saw plenty of open tables so we sat at the bar and you all know my obsession for pizza so I had the yummiest pizza and my friends ordered pasta and spaghetti with drinks.

As for the nightlife, we did hop around a little because we were trying to find something that was more of our style in music so we ended up at Zelda’s Nightclub which plays hip hop and Spanish music which was perfect for us!

My biggest tip when traveling is to look up places where you want to go eat, activities during the day and the night life which we totally did but had to go with the flow last minute due to splash house. My bestie is the queen of yelp so that’s your safest bet!

Brunch is my FAVORITE because I love breakfast and mimosas so it’s the perfect combination! It was so hot in Palm Springs which I was definitely expecting so another tip when traveling to hot locations is to pack airy clothing, light colors and comfortable shoes are all a must!

*Pictures were taken at FARM

Now let’s talk about the Airbnb because it was PERFECT! It was a back house with its own entrance, we had the pool and backyard area to ourselves and we honestly could not have asked for more. The space inside was awesome with its own kitchen, bathroom, living room area and a bed as well so I definitely recommend this place for booking. I will leave the details down below.

Be In the Moment

Happy Wednesday babes, I feel like I’m still recovering from Memorial Day Weekend and the fact that I feel SUPER sore from my yesterday’s workout but I’m off today so I have time to relax, write this blog post and I’m also heading to a blogger event this evening.

My birthday is next week and with that being said I want to talk about being present in the moment which is something I definitely want to practice especially this weekend when I’m out celebrating with friends and loved ones. We are all consumed by social media and constantly being on our phones and I find myself constantly being on social media, texting, talking on the phone, reading emails etc. I’m always on the go and always multitasking but I randomly thought to myself, when was the last time I put my phone away and enjoyed myself?! I love creating content so don’t get me wrong but I’m always thinking ahead, taking pictures to post or thinking about the next picture I’m going to post when it really shouldn’t be that serious. So I bring this up because as I previously mentioned, I do want to practice being in the moment and it is definitely possible to accomplish. I have already started, so the next time you’re watching TV pay attention to what you’re watching. If you’re out with friends or spending time with family, enjoy their company and engage in real life conversations. There are so many ways to put this into practice so I challenge you to do this as well.

For Memorial Day I went to Hermosa Beach, I got to spend some time laying in the sand so the tanning has begun! (Let’s get toasty) I got to walk around and had some good food by the pier. If you’re ever in the area I definitely recommend Hermosa Beach because you can bar hop during the day and night as well. They had food trucks everywhere with music playing, it was a good vibe all around. I am wearing this new top via SHEIN which you know I am always bragging about because of their awesome prices. Now that it’s warming up, it’s perfect to tuck into any bottoms to accentuate your waist and I love the criss cross details on the front for sex appeal and you can dress it up or down. I will link it down below to shop.

P.s. It’s only $7!!!!

I wore it casual this time around so I will definitely style it again this summer multiple ways. I am becoming the queen of styling things more than once and I have no shame in my game.

Living Unapologetically+ Robert Wayne Footwear Collaboration

Happy Tuesday babes! I can’t believe we are halfway through May which means summer is around the corner and before we know it we’ll be back celebrating the holidays and ending 2018!!!

I want to get into the topic of living unapologetically because I am a firm believer that everyone should live this way. This topic can mean numerous things to different people so I want to share a little on how I interpret it and how I learned to live this way. Read more down below.

I think for the most part people worry about what others will think or say about them including myself but I quickly snap out of it because I would say that within the last year I started telling myself that people will talk regardless so might as well let them talk based on me showing others who I really am. So when I say live unapologetically, I literally mean with EVERYTHING! I have no shame in speaking my mind and sharing my feelings because at the end of it all I’m the one that has to go through situations on a daily basis. I’d rather go through life letting things out and not bottling up emotions etc. I believe in staying true to myself in all situations and with everyone which is also a huge reason why I love fashion because I am able to express myself through my style of clothing. I enjoy being versatile and experimenting with different looks, as long as I feel confident in what I’m wearing then that’s all that matters. Being confident and feeling unapologetic feels so good, try it and you can thank me later!

*Say what you want, what you feel and do as you please because life is too short to worry about putting others in front of your happiness!!!

I want to share this awesome collaboration I did with @robertwaynefootwear sharing my new kicks, I will link them down below to shop and let me tell you they are super comfy and go with any kind of style.

Adidas Swift Run

I’m all about taking one item and creating endless looks, I spent the day in Venice Beach with Robert Wayne Footwear to catch up and talk about fashion, fitness and lifestyle. I am the queen of comfort and being casual so I hope you enjoy these looks that are easy to recreate.

Look #1: Shades of Grey

I love love love wearing leggings, sweats, jogger pants etc. because I feel in my element not to mention confident in my body. I enjoy dressing this way because I basically live at the gym or I’m busy running errands etc. so I live for comfort. How perfect do these shoes match with my outfit?!

Look #2: Denim & Crop Tops

Let me start off by saying that these are my favorite pair of denim jeans, I’ve had them for years now and we all need that one pair that fits just right. For all my curvy girls out there, high waist denim jeans are the perfect style to accentuate those curves! My go to style when wearing denim is to pair it with any kind of crop top and since we are blooming for the spring time, I thought I’d pair it with a light pink top and vintage sunnies for a fresh look. Cuff up those jeans and rock them with comfy shoes and you’re good to go!

Look #3: Better in Black

For all my girls that have a whole wardrobe filled with black clothing, this outfit is for you! I decided to pair my edgy leather jacket to spice things up but kept the rest casual to be true to my style and threw on some leggings and a tank top for a day at the beach! I also threw my hair up in a messy bun because that’s just how I like to roll on a daily basis. I love that this whole outfit is black but the shoes make that pop and are a true statement with anything I wear.

Real Life vs. Social Media

Happy Tuesday babes, it’s a new week and I know tons of you are recovering from celebrating Cinco de Mayo! We are back to reality and that means kicking ass during the week so I want to get straight into the topic of real life vs. social media and give you some insight into how things work in my life.

My real life consists of working as a behavioral therapist Monday-Thursday, my schedule is scattered all over the place during the week but I am lucky enough to have found this job after graduating last year from CSUN with my B.A in sociology. I know it is completely different from my passion of being a fashion, fitness and lifestyle blogger but that’s where real life kicks in and I’ve learned how to balance them both. I’m busy with my clients during the week so I only have time in between to run errands and make it to the gym. I work my butt off at work and to be honest sometimes I don’t feel like working out and I just want to be lazy at home and stay away from social media and posting but I remind myself that I do my blogging because it’s my passion. Whenever I have blogger events, I take time off work and fit it into my schedule and I somehow I make it all work. On weekends, I take time to create content and spend time with friends and family. As far as the gym goes, if you follow me on Instagram @segagenesis_ then you know I make it to the gym 4-5 times a week, it’s my stress reliever so even when I feel lazy I make it a point to go because it feels rewarding afterwards to know I’m doing something good for my well being. So that’s a little insight to the real things that go on in my life.

Let’s be honest, social media is a platform where everyone shares their “best” moments and I say duh why wouldn’t I share that with everyone? I am one that likes to think positive so why would I sit there and mope around on social media?  That’s not to say I discredit anyone else who likes to keep it raw with their emotions but for my preference I’d rather keep things to myself and work through things with my support system of close friends and family. I love being cheerful and good spirited so yes when it comes to social media I like to share my good emotions with all of you. Life is way too short so I always tell myself to smile and be happy to even be alive as cliché as it may sound. I don’t have time or the energy to let negative emotions get the best of me.

I share this with you all so you can get to know me on another level besides sharing my OOTD’s so I hope you enjoy reading my blog posts.

Here’s a new #ootd I am sharing for spring, I have been trying to step outside of my comfort zone which I feel like I do a pretty good job because my style is so versatile so I am sharing another item from SHEIN with this little plaid number. I love that the straps are adjustable, it’s a wrap dress mixed into a romper so it’s definitely a statement piece.

Self Love & Coming First

Happy Tuesday loves, let’s start off by saying how weird this LA weather is, hot and cold like my attitude. LOL

It’s a fresh new week which always gives us all a chance for a fresh start to get our mind right and set our goals to conquer. I like to set short term goals for the week to keep myself accountable for what I am trying to accomplish and slowly but surely I am getting there. I also have my long term goals that I like to set as well to look at the bigger picture and to remind myself that I got this!

Setting goals begin with self love because it all starts internally. The worst thing someone can do is throw themselves a pity party because no one likes a negative Nancy! You must remind yourself that in the most difficult of times you push even harder to rise. Self love can mean a lot of things to different people so I want to share some of my thoughts and what it means to me, I will list them down below and I hope they can make a difference to someone.

  1. Take care of your body (gym and food) I know that not everyone is perfect and we all have our moments of caving in and going for that dessert or something you’ve been craving but consistency is key so I try my best to make the gym and what I eat a priority so yes, that means cutting out junk food 90% of the time. *You got this!
  2. Getting a good night sleep, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stayed up late doing nothing but fighting my sleep by being on my phone or watching TV and then I’m hating life the next day because I’m acting like a monster! LOL…I like to give myself a time where I am just forced to go to sleep because in the long run it does really help to make you feel better and refreshed so you should definitely try this out!
  3. Make time for your hobbies, for me this includes working out, spending quality time with friends and family. I love the outdoors so I love to go on hikes, trying new places to eat and just be out enjoying life! Make time for the things that make you happy and you will see a huge change in your life, I promise! (:
  4. Let go of negative energies that no longer serve a purpose in your life whether it’s people, situations, your job, etc. you have to recognize how it makes you feel internally and if you’re feeling negative then it’s time to let go and move on. Being positive is far more important than putting your energy into things that will only bring you down.

Now moving onto my outfit details, I am loving this new top via SHEIN, I normally don’t wear graphic tees but I love how this outfit turned out sporty, chic and casual. Here’s another item that has a great steal for only $9 and how cute is this top?! The girly print, the heart and material of this top, I love it all! It comes in a thick and stretchy material that you can wear multiple ways like I did here tucked into my denim skirt via Go Jane or with shorts, overalls, jeans, etc. This top is also available in black and white.

I love how this outfit turned out and it was perfect beach weather as well, I am wearing my new Adidas Swift Run and OMG they are comfy. I will be sharing a special collaboration with Robert Wayne Footwear soon along with a giveaway so stay tuned because you don’t want to miss this!
